Work behind a plant gate
A site on the channel side usually has a badge office, a safety orientation and a short list of approved delivery times. A driver who arrives without the paperwork waits, and the rental clock may keep running. Give the yard the gate name, the contact and the hours the plant accepts deliveries.
Ask whether the plant requires anything extra on the machine before it enters the gate. The yard can tell you what it can supply. The plant's safety department can tell you what is required.
Equipment that fits pipe racks and tanks
Pipe racks, vessels and structural steel crowd every foot of a process unit. That is where an articulating boom earns its cost, because the basket can go up and over a rack and stop beside a valve. Tall tank and structure work with open approach is a better match for a telescopic boom.
Describe the surface, the slope and any soft strip between the gate and the work, and ask the plant where a heavy machine may stand.
Away from the fence line
Not every Pasadena call involves a plant. The city is large, with warehouses, retail centers and healthcare facilities. Its economy also ties to the Bayport shipping terminal and industrial district and to the NASA Johnson Space Center area next door, so crews also work on shipping and light-industrial buildings.
For those jobs the lift is often a scissor or a compact electric boom, and the main question is the door. Measure it and read the scissor lift page for common widths.
Heat, salt air and storms
Summer heat can shorten battery run time on electric units. Hurricanes are a concern in fall for the bay communities, and a storm can shut down outdoor work for several days. Build a spare day into the plan for any outdoor job.

Common questions
Can a lift enter a plant on the day I ask?
Rarely. Plants control access, and the badge process can take time. Start the request as early as you can and say what the gate needs.
Do I need a different machine inside a plant?
Possibly. Some units need extra equipment or tags before entry. Ask the plant's safety group first, then the yard.
How should I describe a rack-heavy site?
Say how high the work is, how far it sits from where the machine can stand, and what blocks the path. A photo from the working position helps more than a long description.
