No city hall to call
Because Cypress is unincorporated, the rules that apply to a site depend on the exact location: county, a municipal utility district, a property owners' association or a commercial park. Ask the owner which of them controls the lot before you pick the machine. A yard cannot answer that for you.
Give the street address and the nearest cross street on the request. A wrong turn costs a long truck real time on these roads.
Typical work
Requests tend to fall into a few groups.
- Tilt-wall and metal buildings on new commercial sites.
- Sign, lighting and facade work at shopping centers.
- Roof and rooftop unit access on schools and offices.
- Interior ceilings and racking in distribution buildings.
- Tree and storm work at homes and parks.
Hurricane history and flood risk
Cypress took hits from Hurricane Alicia in 1983, Ike in 2008 and Harvey in 2017, and a risk-model figure quoted on the area's reference page says about a fifth of properties have a greater than 26% chance of severe flooding over thirty years. For a lift rental, that means a pad that was dry on Monday may be soft on Thursday.
After a major storm, demand for articulating booms and tree-work machines jumps. If you need one the week after a storm, say so, and offer a range of dates.
Schools, parks and storm repair
Schools and parks usually set tight windows. A facility manager can tell you which weeks buildings are empty and where a truck may cross a field or a play area. After a storm, roofs, signs and trees need work at once, so the same lift may be wanted by several crews. Ask the yard early, and name a backup date.
Moving a large machine on US 290
US 290, the Northwest Freeway, is the area's main artery. A boom on a trailer needs a window outside commuter hours. Distance from the yard sets a large part of the delivery charge, so the cost guide tells you which line items to compare.

Common questions
Who decides if I can use a lift on my property?
The owner, and possibly a homeowners' association or district. Ask them. The yard only delivers and does not approve use of the site.
Is Cypress inside Houston?
It lies within Houston's extraterritorial jurisdiction but is not part of the city. For a rental that mostly affects who regulates the site, so ask the owner.
Can I book ahead for hurricane season?
You can ask a yard about its terms for a long hold, but availability is the yard's decision. A written quote with dates is the safest step.
